This post will help prep for your upcoming headshot session and outline expectations from start to finish. The goal with your business headshot is a blend of professionalism and approachability. I aim to highlight your natural beauty and help document your best YOU.

RECOMMENDED DO’S
- Keep it simple! Lend towards the professional outfits and colors you generally wear. Black is always a classic and any other solid colors that look good on you. Solid and darker colors tend to be slimming.
- Take into consideration that fitted and smaller clothing shows up better than looser clothing.
- Do make sure your clothing are cleaned and pressed.
- It’s Colorado! Layers are not only functional, but look great in your headshot. Bring your jackets, sweaters, jewelry/etc to layer during your shoot.
- If you choose to wear makeup, lend towards a little heavier than usually for the camera and lipstick if you wear it. If you need a local professional makeup recommendation, please ask me.
- Everyone should prep their lips with chapstick or lip balm.
- If you are known for glasses, please wear them. There are some tricks if they glare with flash.
- Do know that light retouching will be provided for your final selections. That includes naturally altering fly aways, skin blemishes/softening, and dark under eyes. Please communicate anything else that’s on your mind.
- Stay hydrated and sleep well the night before.
SUGGESTED DON’TS
- When choosing an outfit, avoid busy/loud prints, logos, or words as they can be distracting.
- Don’t forget about your fingernails, hair ties and watches on your wrists. They may make an appearance with an arms crossed pose.
- Don’t worry about your pants or shoes. Unless otherwise specified, your headshot will be shot waist up.
- Don’t be afraid to communicate any thoughts or concerns at any point during your headshot process. Your opinion and happiness matter.
- Don’t forget to relax and have fun!
