Film Is Not Dead

The Film Is Not Dead workshop led by Jonathan Canlas is life changing (cue swooning gestures, fluttering heart, and twinkly stars in eyes). But like, no joke. For real y’all.

Surrounded by like-minded/genuine/inspiring photographers, it was three soulful days of artistic bliss in Austin, Texas.

Jon is a natural leader and his personality is magnetic. His photography is an extension of his honesty, passion, and beautiful point of view. His words, images, and love of film, has reminded me of my why. Why I love the depth of film. Why I feel it in my heart and belly. Why I photograph.

I am absolutely hands down completely obsessively passionate about photography. I am constantly in awe of its whimsy, beauty, simplicity, timelessness, emotion, solitude, stillness, creativity, boldness, sincerity, delicacy, humility, and color. I believe in its ability to beautifully illustrate love in all its color and joy. I photograph because people are beautiful and love amazes me.

Jon (and everyone else!) not only changed my photographic and business approach, but also left me with a priceless sense of community. Yes, I needed a throw down on the technical stuff. Yes, I needed to talk shop and business. But the biggest more important yes, was I needed to be heard. I am forever grateful for Jon and Catherine creating an honest space for photographers to come together to learn, create, and connect.

If you are even in the slightest bit interested in attending a FIND workshop, DO IT. Sign up before all seats are filled (because they will!). And then add me on Facebook because you are probably someone I want to know.

(Not only do you broaden your photographic knowledge and meet awesome people doing cool things, you walk away with a lot of loot!)

All images shot with a Contax 645 with Kodak film.

They brought back so many fond memories…I am sure I am not the only one wanting to do this all over again. Hanging out, touching the strangers and the blah blah blah’s! I can’t wait to see where you go from here. Keep on rocking it out girl!ReplyCancel
